Selecting The Righaccessorize With Pashmina Or Pashmina Silk Blend

If you are considering buying pashminas but can't quite make up your mind whether you want the pure pashmina or one blended with silk, you should know that they are both fine options. There are some facts and pointers, however, which might be of help. First of all, there is the obvious distinction between the two, which is the silky sheen of the blended pashmina.

Normally, the sheen is created by the 30 percent addition of silk. Silk pashminas are usually worn at formal events, where gowns are made of materials that typically also contain sheen (such as silk or satin). Another big difference between the two pashminas is the warmth; pure pashminas are always the warmer ones. Pashmina wool is not only warm, though, but incredibly lightweight as well. It seems that the extra warmth is given by the additional content.

Another factor in the warmth is the ply of the item. Pure pashminas usually come in one, two or three plies, sometimes even more. The greater the ply, the warmer the item will be. Since blended pashminas come in two ply, a pure pashmina offers extra warmth. As mentioned above, the pashmina/silk blend is typically produced using a tighter weave. This means that the sheen is enhanced, creating the smoother texture.

Pure pashminas, on the other hand, are usually produced with a looser texture weave, so as to prevent the shedding of the wool. In addition, the loose texture makes the item "fluffier," and gives it the luxurious feel that only cashmere gives. Until recently, the term "pashmina" was typically associated with the pashmina/silk blend. Today, however, pure pashminas are just as famous. The best way to remain in fashion with pashminas, however, is to have both types. This way you can easily mix and match, according to the occasion.
