Pashmina Shawls Rise To The Peak Of Fashion
Pashmina shawls have been on the peak of high fashion ever since they rose to prominence in the 1990s. Pashminas can now be found for under $50 for a small silk blended scarf up to hundreds of dollars for a pure cashmere pashmina wrap.
Now there are many more great deals on pashminas, though, because manufacturers began making them in much larger quantities. Since pashmina shawls require wool from a specific type of goat in the Himalayan region, manufacturers began raising goats in similar conditions in the Gobi Desert.
Now pashminas can be easily found in all shapes and sizes for consumers around the world. Stoles usually come in 28"x80", while a full-size pashmina wrap will usually come in a 36"x80" size. Pure pashminas should be gauzy with an open-weave design, because the wool is sensitive to tension. A great number of pashmina shawls are also blended with silk, usually in a 30 percent silk/70 percent cashmere ratio. This is technically not a pure pashmina, though, but these blended garments are still soft and high-quality.
A pashmina wrap made of blended materials will probably be much more affordable than a pure cashmere wrap, but many people prefer the real thing. Pashmina shawls should remain in the peak of fashion for years to come, but it may become harder to determine what the real thing is and what is just using the name. In either case, they are a quick way to dress up any ensemble during any time of year.
