Obtaining Glass Beads To Make Unique Jewelry

Graphite will not stick to the hot glass, while stainless steel is necessary for shaping the glass, but only if it is appropriately used. Finally, the beads are flame-worked individually and finished with kiln-annealing. As previously stated, unique jewelry requires special techniques to create it.

Annealing the beads is a step that assures their durability. While the beads are hot and still on the mandrel, they are heated in a kiln at 960 degrees Fahrenheit. This way the glass is cooled until it reaches room temperature very slowly so that it won't break.
